Sooner or later something has to happen to the roof under an array. The reinstall half is the part people underestimate. Panels going back on means mounts and flashing being redone on a new surface, electrical connections being remade, and the system being brought back online and verified. Somebody has to confirm the array is producing again afterward rather than assuming it is. If a roofer and a solar crew are both involved, decide up front who is responsible for what, especially for anything that leaks later.
This is priced as labor rather than equipment, since the hardware is already yours. The drivers are array size, how the panels are arranged, and how hard the roof is to work on safely, which means pitch, height, and access. A cut-up roof with multiple planes takes longer than one clean face. Whether the whole array or only a section comes off matters. So does the covering going back on, since flashing details differ by material. If components are found damaged once the panels are down, replacing them is a separate line.
